Here's A Great Idea To Get Families Reading!

This is a great story I think you’ll enjoy.

While promoting at the Spirit of Christmas last week I was having my breakfast and Sky news ran a story that children in Brittan can’t read properly and 50% of the 10 year olds have the reading ability of a 7 year old. I gobble up my breakfast and head to the show with a renewed determination to get more families reading together bedtime.

After a while I’m feeling a little downbeat as it’s a long tough week of promoting Adam’s message. And then a wonderful teacher approaches my stand full of smiles and excitement with happiness in her eyes. She jogs my memory and reminds me of the suggestion I made to her has last year when I gave her a copy of Before You Sleep. I suggested that when she gives out her homework to the class she picks a different child each day and instead of normal homework they would take Before You Sleep home and have mum or dad read it to them. No stress in the house doing homework that day just 10 minutes of I love you at bedtime in a happy house.

I am delighted to report that the reaction from the teacher, the children and their parents was a resounding success with hugely positive feedback. So much so, one particular little boy has stopped having nightmares when he is read an Adam book at bedtime. Result!

An idea you might help share. It can be any book of course and the benefits are huge for everyone but of course it works best with Before you Sleep. Ha! Ha!
